Church Aston Village Hall car park was sealed off by police for forensic examination on Saturday after the incident, which happened at about 4am.

A 37-year-old was arrested on Saturday night and a 29-year-old was arrested yesterday morning. Both men were questioned at Malinsgate Police Station in Telford and released on bail pending further inquiries.

Detective Inspector Steve Tonks, of Telford CID, said the investigation was in its early stages and police officers had been carrying out house-to-house inquiries.

He said as a result of initial inquiries into the incident it had become necessary to secure part of the car park belonging to the village hall.

Mr Tonks said: “We would appeal to anyone living in or visiting the area who may have any information relating to any unusual or suspicious activity at that time, or information concerning any motor vehicles which may have been seen or heard.”

Anyone with information should contact police in Telford on 0300 3333000 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
