Scott Moran of Ludlow, the British Hill Climb Champion for the second year in a row.

Scott Moran of Ludlow has won the British Hill Climb Championship for the second successive year in 2009.

Scott, aged 33, from Ludlow, driving his Gould single seater racing car, won the title with several rounds of the championship still to go and will retain the number 1 on his car for Hagley Car Club’s 75th Anniversary year in 2010.

Scott’s father Roger, himself champion in 1997, shares the car with Scott and will also become club president for the next year.

The parkland hill-climb venue at Alberbury, near Shrewsbury, is also 40 years old next year, so many celebration events are being planned jointly with host Sir Michael Leighton.

This weekend sees the last events of the year organised by Hagley Car Club at Loton Park, and the club will welcome members of the Aston-Martin Owners Club, TVR and an unprecedented third visit from the Toyo Tyres Midland Speed Championship.

Midland Speed are very pleased to be invited to Loton on three occasions as it has been voted as their members’ favourite venue.

On Sunday, the final Hagley event of the year at Loton (The Vintage Sports Car Club are holding an event on September 26/27), sees Aston-Martin, the BARC Championship, Club Alpine Renault, the second visit from Ginettas and the Richard Egger HSA Championship.

Local competitors entered include Darren Edwards of Welshpool in a Peugeot 106, Brian Marshall of Shrewsbury in a Porsche 944, John Beesley of Shrewsbury in a Jedi, Neville Thomson of Much Wenlock in an OMS, Craig and Adam Jones of Tenbury Wells in a Chevron, John Morris of Oswestry in a Taylor, and Sheila Francis from Cleobury Mortimer in a DJ Firehawk.
