Points loss puts Ludlow in mire
Thursday 10th September 2009, 11:38AM BST.
Ludlow Cricket Club have been dragged firmly into the Marston’s Shropshire Premier League relegation scrap after being docked eight points.
The Burway men have been hit by the deduction for a slow over rate in the middle third of the season.
Ludlow now find themselves third from bottom in the table, with only Newtown and Welshpool behind them.
Just eight points separate the three teams with three games remaining. The bottom club at the end of the season will be relegated into the FBC Manby Bowdler Shropshire League.
“League rules state that 17 overs must be bowled an hour and Ludlow only averaged 16.58 in the middle third of the season,” said chairman Mike Robinson. “It is a mandatory eight point deduction.”
