A group that brings a touch of Hollywood to Shropshire’s smallest villages has been told its future is assured for the next 12 months.
Flicks in the Sticks has secured funding for a year from Screen WM.
This which means it will be able to continue its programme of showing movies in rural locations.
Ian Kerry, director of Flicks in the Sticks, said he was delighted.
Mr Kerry said Flicks in the Sticks was all set to begin its new autumn season thanks to new funding from Screen WM, the regional funder for film.
He said screenings were planned for all over Shropshire and Herefordshire.
Mr Kerry said: “As always there is a varied programme popular choices this season are Young Victoria, Australia and locally filmed Faintheart.
“For sheer fun and entertainment we recommend Young at Heart, an irresistible crowd-pleaser that shows the rejuvenating power of music.”
Mr Kerry added that a big hit with audiences this season was set to be Morris – A Life With Bells On. It has an all star cast and a theme of Morris Dancing.
Mr Kerry said: “This packed season has once again been possible due to funding from Screen WM. Our application was ‘particularly strong’. However they have told us that next year there could be cuts of up to 40 per cent across the board.”
