Day of stars planned for food festival

Wednesday 9th September 2009, 10:13AM BST.

A day of stars is planned at Ludlow Food Festival to showcase the finest food on offer in the region.

A special event called All Michelin Friday – Day of Star Chefs will take place at the annual three-day food and drink bonanza this weekend and organisers expect huge crowds.

Today Beth Heath, co-ordinator of Ludlow Food Festival, said the Michelin demonstration would take place on the Olive stage in the Inner Bailey of Ludlow Castle on Friday.

She said: “There will be a full-day of entertaining demonstrations by a selection of fine chefs.

“Demonstrators will include Ludlow’s own Will Holland, head chef at La Becasse, who gained his first well-deserved Michelin star this year. Alongside him will be Alan Murchison, owner of La Becasse and the Michelin-starred L’Ortolan. Mr Murchison appeared on TV’s Great British Menu earlier this year and is regarded as one of the UK’s best chefs.”

Mr Holland will also appear on the Olive stage on Sunday at 3pm, when he will give a talk and demonstration about fine dining.

Mrs Heath added: “Will is the winner of a prestigious Acorn award and he will be cooking with fine local produce. He will show people how to cook the Michelin way.”

Meanwhile, another Michelin-starred chef from Ludlow, Chris Bradley, from Mr Underhills, will give a demonstration and talk on desserts on Saturday at 11.45am.

Tickets for all demonstrations are available from www.foodfestival.co.uk
