Plans for a Conference quality site
Tuesday 8th September 2009, 5:59PM BST.
Ambitious plans to revamp and expand AFC Telford United’s New Bucks Head site to make it fit for the Football Conference are in the pipeline, it emerged today.
Telford & Wrekin Council leader Andrew Eade and Telford chairman Lee Carter were this afternoon remaining tight-lipped about details, however, they said the plans would secure the long-term future of The Bucks.
Mr Carter said: “We are together looking at ways that the club could develop a number of sites in and around the Bucks Head to help secure this as a major site for football for the future.”
The possibilities being explored are to be discussed by the authority’s ruling cabinet next Tuesday.

what the hell is wrong with the stadium as it is? surely the council cant pump more taxpayer money into an unneccessary upgrade of a perfectly fien stadium? how about other leisure facilities and groups getting some much needed funding?

I think the key phrase in this article is ‘Telford & Wrekin Council leader Andrew Eade and Telford chairman Lee Carter were this afternoon remaining tight-lipped about details’
… which leads me to believe that the Shropshire Star are speculating. The Bucks Head is already a grade ‘A’ stadium and therefore already meets conference standards – so whoever wrote this article is obviously another clueless sloppy star hack!
I would suggest that you wait until the Shropshire Star have some facts before you start making any noise.
