Hospice wants pictures for calendar

Tuesday 8th September 2009, 7:52AM BST.

long_myndA Shropshire charity is calling on amateur and professional photographers in the county to send in photographs of their favourite county views for a new calendar.

Severn Hospice, which has centres in Bicton, near Shrewsbury and Apley Castle, Telford, is inviting people to send in their snaps from which 12 will be selected for the hospice’s 2011 calendar.

Sian Bailey, the Hospice’s retail manager, responsible for 16 hospice shops spread throughout Shropshire and Mid Wales, said that the calendar for next year had already been compiled and was already available for sale.

She said the competition to design one for the following year was an exciting challenge for anybody interested in photography.

“Our calendar for 2010 which is now on sale, has some stunning photographs of beauty spots and views taken in various parts of our area,” said Sian.

“But looking ahead to 2011 we would like to give any photographer, professional or amateur, the chance of showing off their work while helping the hospice to raise money for caring for people with life limiting illnesses.

“Many people who are keen on photography never get the chance of seeing their work in print.”

Copies of photographs can be sent to Calendar photos, Retail Department, Severn Hospice, Bicton Heath, Shrewsbury, SY3 8HS, or e-mailed to retail@severnhospice.org.uk

The 2010 calendar is now on on sale at any hospice shop priced at £2.95.
