Soldier jailed for killing stepson
Friday 4th September 2009, 2:42PM BST.
A former Shropshire soldier was today jailed for five years for the manslaughter of his 21-month-old stepson.
Shaun Thompson, 25, admitted the manslaughter of Kieran Edwards when he appeared at Stafford Crown Court.
Thompson denied the murder of the boy and that plea was accepted by the prosecution.
The court heard Thompson, who was stationed at Tern Hill Barracks at Market Drayton when he injured Kieran on June 24, 2007, had admitted killing the youngster after he lost his temper when the child started ‘messing about’ while he was trying to change his nappy.
