Bus talks will look at route changes
Friday 4th September 2009, 10:27AM BST.
Residents can have their say about changes to a north Shropshire bus route which residents claim will leave them cut off.
A meeting has been called to discuss changes to the 513 service from Shrewsbury to Whitchurch, which are due to come into force on Sunday. The move will mean the service will no longer pick up from Grinshill or Sansaw Heath.
One resident from Grinshill said the changes meant residents would be cut off.
But Arriva bosses said “very little usage” was made by the two villages and Grinshill had only one person regularly using the bus. The 513 will no longer be used and the route, excluding Grinshill and Sansaw Heath, will become part of the upgraded 511 route.
The meeting will be held tomorrow at 10.30am at Acton Reynald Cricket Club, Grinshill. Jane Whittaker, Grinshill Parish Council clerk, said representatives of Shropshire Council would be invited to put their side forward and there would be a question and answer session.
Keith Myatt, Arriva spokesman, said they would not be at the meeting as it was a sponsored service operated on behalf of Shropshire Council.
Matt Johnson, for Shropshire Council, said people wanting to travel from Grinshill and Sansaw Heath would still be able to use the 511 service via ShropshireLink, on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
