Town MP in Libya demand
Tuesday 1st September 2009, 10:23AM BST.
Shrewsbury MP Daniel Kawczynski has demanded a government minister meets the mother of murdered police officer Yvonne Fletcher to explain why her killer has not been secured under prisoner transfer deals with Libya.
Mr Kawczynski, who is chairman of the All Party Parliamentary Group for Libya, has written an open letter to foreign secretary David Miliband to ask why, after 25 years, nothing has been done to get justice for Miss Fletcher’s family.
The policewoman was shot dead outside the Libyan embassy in London on April 17, 1984. She had been policing a small demonstration outside the building when a gunman opened fire.
Mr Kawczynski said he was outraged that her killer left the embassy under diplomatic immunity.
In the open letter to Mr Miliband, he says: “I am sure you will agree, that our country must send out an unequivocal message that any murder of a British police officer will lead to a determined resolve to bring their killers to justice, at any cost.”

I agree killers should be brought to book for the murder of this WPC, my only concern is that it has taken 25 years for Mr Kawczynski to be be in his words
“said he was outraged that her killer left the embassy under diplomatic immunity”
i wonder just wehn did the Killer leave and who allowed him to if i recall correctly the country was under Thatcher and then major
both of mr Kawczynski tory party, in this case either or whoever allowed said killer to go free should be brought to book.
