Detectives were today pushing letters appealing for information through doors in their hunt for a man who raped a woman in Telford.

Posters featuring an artist’s impression of the attacker were also being put up around busy areas in the town, including the shopping centre.

Yesterday detectives revealed they were widening their search to out of the town for the man who attacked the victim in her 20s as she made her way towards Randlay from Stafford Park about 5pm on August 11.

Chris Ammonds, Telford police spokesman, said today: “We are carrying out letter drops in the Randlay, Stirchley and Hollinswood areas over the bank holiday weekend.

“Posters with the artist’s impression on are being put up around the town centre, including at pay and display meters and pay points, where we think there will be a good footfall of people, as well as businesses at Stafford Park 13.”

Mr Ammonds said extra officers were working over the weekend as part of the investigation.

A 32-year-old man arrested earlier this week for rape was released on Thursday afternoon without charge.
