sd3266891left-pre-lead-andTwo police constables from Powys will be appearing on a reality television series about how British officers tackle crime.

Constables Aran Wareing and Carl Danson, who are based at Newtown Road Policing Unit, have spent the last month with camera crews filming for the series Brit Cops-Front Line Crime. The reality police show will be broadcast on the satellite channel Virgin 1 in October.

The episodes show a variety of officers from the Dyfed-Powys Police force area including Powys and Ceredigion.

Constable Wareing said that he had enjoyed the experience and hoped it would help promote the work of the road policing unit.

He said: “The camera operators we’ve worked with have been very patient and professional.

“They are not intrusive and understand the sensitivities of what we do and those we serve.

“We believe this has been a great opportunity to promote the work of the road policing unit and will enable members of the community to feel confident as we demonstrate the effective work we do to keep the roads of Powys safe.”

Constable Danson said officers across Dyfed-Powys were now looking forward to watching the programme so that they can see how they and their colleagues “denied criminals the use of our road”.

He said: “The production company has covered both planned proactive operations as well as the teams reacting to emergency calls and incidents, which provides a genuine and full scope of our responsibilities.”

A spokesman for Brit Cops-Front Line Crime said: “The police officers featuring in episodes discuss work, respond to 999 calls, enforce public order, raid premises allegedly being used for illegal purposes, pursue and arrest various suspects, transport them to the police station after they are arrested.”

He said that the series would go out in October with an exact date being released in the near future.
