Injuries hamper Bucks boss
Saturday 29th August 2009, 10:48AM BST.
AFC Telford United manager Rob Smith has vowed to shuffle his pack for part two of the Bank Holiday double header – but will have his options limited by injury.
The Bucks travel to Gloucester on Monday for their second game in 48 hours after Ilkeston’s visit to the New Bucks Head this afternoon.
Smith believes changes will be essential to manage his squad through two games in such a short space of time, but will have to cope without Jon Adams, Jamie Vermiglio and Jimmy Turner.
Adams is expected to come back into contention for next Saturday’s home game with Harrogate, but Vermiglio and Turner could be two or three weeks away from returning to action.
Smith, meanwhile, is expecting a tough game against last season’s Southern Premier Division play-off winners Gloucester, despite their early season struggles.
“I think they are just finding their feet in the new league at the moment and have probably found it more physical than they are used to,” said Smith. “But I’m sure when we get there they will be ready for us.”
Defender Lee Vaughan has been named in reserve list for England C for their upcoming game against Hungary.
l Telford fans travelling to Monday’s clash away to Gloucester City should make sure they head for Cirencester.
Gloucester City have not been able to play in their own ground since it was badly damaged in the floods of 2007. They now groundshare with Cirencester. The address is: The Corinium Stadium, Kings Hill Lane, Cirencester, GL7 1HS.
