AFC Telford United suffered frustration as they were held to a 0-0 draw by 10-man Ilkeston in the Blue Square North clash at the New Bucks Head.
The Derbyshire outfit, promoted from the UniBond League last season, finished the game a man light when striker Gary Ricketts was sent off with more than half an hour to go after picking up his second booking of the afternoon.
Carl Rodgers had seen a glancing header off Steve Torpey’s corner headed off the line in the first half, while debutant Sean Newton hit the top of the crossbar with a free-kick.
Skipper Stuart Whitehead spurned a great chance to win it late on when he headed wide off Danny Edwards’ cross.
