Accrington Stanley 1 Shrewsbury 3
Saturday 29th August 2009, 5:42PM BST.
Shrewsbury Town celebrated their first away win of the League Two season with an impressive performance at Accrington Stanley.
Town took the lead on 18 minutes when Steve Leslie smashed in a confident penalty for his second goal in consecutive games.
Centre-back Kelvin Langmead then buried the second five minutes into the second half to give the visitors some breathing space.
Former Shrewsbury striker Michael Symes reminded the away fans of his abilities as he reduced the deficit midway through the second half.
But Town were not to be denied and made sure of the points eight minutes from time when Dave Hibbert added Shrewsbury’s third of the day and his fourth of the season.
