Murder inquiry pair will not face charges

Two men arrested as part of a murder inquiry into the death of a Shropshire nightclubber will not face any further action, police said today.
The two men, who have not been named, were told by detectives yesterday that they will not be facing charges relating to the death of 41-year-old Darren Griffiths after a disturbance at the Liquid and Diva Nightclub in Raven Meadows, Shrewsbury.
The pair were arrested along with two other men, who have since been charged with the murder of father-of-two Mr Griffiths, of Harmer Hill, following the incident in the early hours of June 29.
Neil Stokes, 22, of Spring Gardens, Shrewsbury, and Daryl Brown, 31, of Severn Drive, Wellington – who are both doormen at the club – are in custody awaiting their next court hearing. The two other men had been on police bail following their arrest.
Maria Hawkaluk, spokeswoman for West Mercia Police, said: “The two men answered their bail yesterday at Shrewsbury Police Station and no further police action is to be taken.
“They have been released from their bail.”
Liquid and Diva was last week given permission by Shropshire Council licensing chiefs to reopen following a review of its premises licence.
Under a raft of new conditions door staff will be required to wear special headcams and the club’s opening hours will be reduced.
