Injured Adams out for three weeks
Monday 24th August 2009, 2:20PM BST.
Midfielder Jon Adams will be out for up to three weeks after becoming AFC Telford United’s latest injury victim at bogey ground Gainsborough.
The Bucks won 1-0 at Trinity’s Northolme base on Saturday, Carl Rodgers firing the winner six minutes from time in the Blue Square North clash.
But the joy of the victory was tempered somewhat by the setback for Adams, who limped out of the action with a pulled hamstring inside the first 15 minutes.
Adams is just the latest Telford man to suffer at the Lincolnshire ground, with Stuart Whitehead, Jimmy Turner and Gary Birch former victims.
“Jon’s tweaked his hamstring and that’s not good news for us, because it leaves us low on numbers,” said assistant manager Larry Chambers.
“We’ve caught it early but I think he will be out for two-to-three weeks.”
Whitehead actually made his return from another injury on Saturday, playing for the first time since damaging his knee ligaments in the pre-season friendly with Prescot Cables.
He made a big impact at the heart of the back-line alongside Gavin Cowan, with Chambers adding: “Stu makes a massive difference to us defensively.
“I thought he was immense and him and Gavin were superb.”
- Match-winner Rodgers has been notified of his three-game ban following his dismissal for stamping in last Tuesday’s 2-2 draw at home to Hinckley. He will miss the visit of Harrogate Town on September 1 followed by the home game with Northwich and the trip to Alfreton.
