The big clean-up was under way today as thousands of festival-goers departed Weston Park.
The sprawling site was left a mass of abandoned camping equipment and rubbish as more than 80,000 people left the park following two days of music at the 2009 V Festival.
Work was being carried out to dismantle the stages and clear away the rubbish and tents left behind by revellers at the campsite, which was closing today at noon.
Roads were expected to be busy as festival-goers made their way home, with police cracking down on drivers under the influence of drink or drugs.
Fans enjoying a sensational weekend of pop and rock music at the festival, with 90-minute sets from Saturday headliners Oasis and last night’s headliners The Killers among the highlights.
About 1.5 million pints of beer were consumed by visitors to the two V Festival arenas this year.
Andy Redhead, festival organiser, said: “The combined support from the operations teams, emergency services and local community proved to be a huge success for this year’s festival.
“Together, everyone worked extremely hard to ensure a safe, secure and enjoyable festival. The exceptional line-up and amazing weather made a fantastic weekend.”
