Taxi driver’s fury at paint attack
Thursday 20th August 2009, 10:08AM BST.
A Ludlow taxi driver has told of his horror after vandals threw gloss paint over his cab causing £150 of damage.
Alan Carter’s blue Toyota Corolla Verso people carrier was doused in white gloss paint and brake fluid.
The attack happened while the car was parked in Clee View between 10pm on Monday and 5.55am on Tuesday.
“My next-door neighbour tapped on the door at 5.30am and said ‘somebody’s been throwing paint over your car’,” he said. Mr Carter, who has been a taxi driver in Ludlow for about 14 years, had to get specialist help to remove the paint.
He added: “We spent about four hours trying to get it off. It was really hard work but it could have been worse if it had been sunny because the paint would have baked hard on. I think there was brake fluid sprayed on the car as well.”
Mr Carter lost a day’s work because of it. He added: “I have lived here for 30 years and I have never had anything like this before.
“Somebody has stood on the pavement and they have opened a tin of paint and thrown it over the top of the car. It was aimed deliberately at the car.”
Now Mr Carter is urging anybody who saw anything to come forward, especially anyone who might have found a discarded tin of white paint in the area. Contact police on 0300 333 3000.
