New ambassador bids to boost show

Organisers of Shropshire’s biggest agricultural show have appointed a new business ambassador in a bid to strengthen the event’s commercial appeal.
The Shropshire and West Midlands Agricultural Society – organisers of the two-day West Mid Show – has taken on Tony Randall.
Mr Randall, 44, of Shrewsbury, has been president of Shropshire Chamber of Commerce for three years and is also a director on the British Chamber of Commerce board.
He said: “Companies need to work together as a county to combat the actual recession we are in and by engaging in the show you are engaging in local people.”
Mr Randall, the director of family business Heritage Glass said he was extremely pleased with how the corporate hospitality side of this year’s event went.
“It was fully supported and we have had people from the show already provisionally booking their places for next year,” he said.
But the society is not only in action for the two days of the West Mid Show, it is an all-year active society providing many opportunities for businesses across the county to be involved.
“We have charity auctions that we have been doing and we are doing sponsorship packages,” said Mr Randall. “I am a networker and I aim to connect people. A lot of businesses want to meet others and I am able to do that for them.”
