Video footage from the funeral of Shropshire teenager Charlotte Hartey is being used as part of her family’s campaign to stop over-the-telephone diagnosis of swine flu.

The video shows a horse-drawn hearse leaving the family home close to Weston Rhyn near Oswestry with the voice of Charlotte’s father, Karl, urging viewers not to admire the magnificent black horses but to look at the coffin of his beautiful daughter, Charlotte.

The shot cuts to Mr Hartey’s face as he tells how Charlotte was misdiagnosed with swine flu and given Tamiflu, when she in fact had tonsillitis.

By the time she was taken to hospital she had serious complications from tonsillitis and died on July 31.

Mr Hartey said he decided to make the video to help in the campaign to stop medical diagnosis over  the telephone. He said: “I had to take this anger that I have and turn it into something positive.

“Unless something is done more people will die. We are already on the wrong side of this and I feel we have to stand up and do something.”

A petition has been launched through a link on the Facebook site, R.I.P. Charlotte. “I am asking everyone to give three minutes of their time to the Charlotte’s Petition Against Health Call Centres campaign,” Mr Hartey said.

The family are also asking supporters to e-mail their MP to push for call centre diagnosis to be halted.
