A Shifnal inventor’s hopes of winning a £50,000 first prize in a competition for innovative kitchen gadgets have been put on ice.

Margaret Martin entered a contest to win cash and business help and hoped to find out last week whether or not she had been successful.

The contest is being judged by Heston Blumenthal but the final decision has been postponed.

Today spokeswoman Charlotte Bradshaw said the winner would be announced later this month.

Mrs Martin has entered the The Finish Diamond Standard Innovation Challenge, a competition run in partnership with famous chef Heston Blumenthal.

If she wins, she will receive a £50,000 prize as well as the opportunity to develop and promote the product with Lakeland stores.
