Monday 10th August 2009, 11:53AM BST.
A police officer was injured when he was forced to dive clear of a car which drove at him at speed in the centre of Newport.
The officer was attempting to flag down the car for a routine check when the driver of a BMW 1 Series refused to stop and instead headed straight for him before racing away.
The officer suffered grazing to the left side of his body and suffered a bang to his forehead in the incident in High Street at 1.40am on Saturday.
The officer was back on duty yesterday. Witnesses should contact 0300 333 3000.
