Here’s another photo from Terry Heskey, of Church Aston, taken at Sankey’s stadium in Hadley. The football ground, which used to be one of the best in Shropshire, is currently being redeveloped as housing.

It shows a Sankey’s team line-up. He said: “I was the physio. It was perhaps the late 1960s. The gentleman back, second from left, was the manager of Carrefour, John Squires. I’m standing on the far right.”

Actually, if Mr Squires was manager of Carrefour at the time the photo was taken, it must be a little later than Terry thinks, as the pioneering Telford hypermarket did not open until 1973.
