Man admits rape charge

Friday 7th August 2009, 2:36PM BST.

A teenager today admitted attacking and raping a woman in an isolated Shropshire lane.

Simon Hoare, 19, admitted charges of a serious sexual assault and rape when he appeared at Shrewsbury Crown Court today.

He originally denied the offences, which took place in Hengoed Lane, near Oswestry, on April 6, but changed his plea today.

Sentencing was adjourned for reports, but Judge Paul Benn warned Hoare, of Berywn View, Ellesmere, he faced a long custodial sentence.
