Late peer’s flower show message

A poignant message from the late Shropshire peer Lord Kingsland highlighting the “colossal dedication and hard work” of people inv- olved in putting on Shrewsbury Flower Show will appear in its programme.
Although the peer, former European MP Christopher Prout, died on July 12, his message as president of show organisers Shropshire Horticultural Society had already been written.
His widow, Caroline, has agreed to fulfil the engagements her husband would have undertaken at the show on August 14 and 15.
