Detectives investigating a terrifying sex attack on two women on a night out in Shropshire arrested two men today, who are now being questioned by police.

The men, both aged 19 and from Birmingham, were arrested on suspicion of committing a serious sexual assault and are currently being quizzed by West Midlands police.

The two women, aged 32 and 22, had been enjoying a night socialising in High Town, Bridgnorth, on Thursday prior to the attack.

While in the town’s Crown pub, the women met three men and left with them at about 1am on Friday.

They were driven to the Great Barr and Perry Barr areas in Birmingham where they were subjected to serious sexual assaults, police said.

Police are still appealing for two motorists who helped the women in the early hours of Friday in Perry Barr and the Sandwell Valley area to come forward.

Detectives are also examining CCTV footage as part of their investigation.

A spokeswoman said: “The investigation is in the early stages at the moment. We are currently still looking through various CCTV.”

Police yesterday described the men they were keen to trace in connection with the attack as being black and 5ft 8in to 5ft 9in; white, about 5ft 7in to 5ft 8in tall and mixed race or Asian and about 5ft 8in to 5ft 9in tall.

They said they were treating it as an isolated incident and urged women who might be out for the evening to be vigilant and be sensible about leaving drinks unattended.
