Monday 3rd August 2009, 12:45PM BST.

A 16-year-old boy was remanded in custody today in connection with a bleach attack on a woman who asked a group of youths to be quiet in a cinema.

The 46-year-old woman was attacked in a restaurant in Leeds after an incident at a screening of the new Harry Potter film in the city on July 26.

The teenager appeared at Leeds Youth Court this morning charged with wounding with intent to commit grievous bodily harm.

The youth, dressed in a grey T-shirt and grey tracksuit bottoms, sat in the dock throughout the brief hearing.

He spoke only to confirm his name, date of birth and address.

The teenager had been arrested on Saturday along with another youth who has now been released on bail pending further police inquiries.

The attack happened in a Frankie & Benny’s restaurant in Kirkstall Road, Leeds, after the woman had asked a group teenagers to stop making a noise during the screening of Harry Potter And The Half-Blood Prince.

She was taken to Leeds General Infirmary suffering from burns.

The 16-year-old youth was remanded in custody to appear next before Leeds Magistrates Court via video link on August 7.

An application for bail was refused by the magistrates.
