A motorcyclist has been seriously injured after coming off his bike on a Shropshire road. Emergency services were called to the accident yesterday lunchtime to find the rider conscious.
An ambulance, a rapid response vehicle, an incident support officer and the Midlands Air Ambulance from Stafford were sent to the scene.
Claire Thomas, West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman, said: “Crews arrived to find a motorcyclist who was off his bike and injured.
“The motorcyclist, a man, suffered a serious pelvic injury in the crash. Crews administered pain relief to the man and treated his serious condition on scene.
“The man was immobilised before being flown to the University Hospital of North Staffordshire in Stoke-on-Trent, where medics were on standby awaiting his arrival.”
The crash happened on the A518 in Donnington, Telford, close to Hortonwood industrial estate.
Chris Ammonds, Telford police spokesman, said: “A motorcyclist was airlifted to hospital following a crash yesterday afternoon, which involved no other vehicles.
“When we arrived at the scene he was conscious, but suffered injuries to his pelvis and possibly a fractured arm and fractured leg.”
Emergency services were also called to the A442 Eastern Primary, near Woodside, Telford, on Saturday, at 5.50pm.
A male driver was treated for shock at the scene after his car had hit a lamp post. Mr Ammonds said: “The road was closed for one hour when the car was lifted off the scene.”
