Man flees house fire

Monday 3rd August 2009, 11:20AM BST.

A man was left suffering from shock and asthma after a fire at his Shrewsbury home. The blaze happened at 8.13pm yesterday in a house in the Castle Foregate area of the town.

Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service said it started on the ground floor of the mid-terrace house and firefighters in breathing apparatus brought it under control.

A spokeswoman said two pumps and the incident commander from Shrewsbury were sent to the fire.

She said: “Nobody was hurt as a direct result of the fire although there was a male suffering from shock and asthma.”
