Sir Bobby, who played for West Bromwich Albion, had been battling cancer.
An Albion player from 1956 to 1962, he played 239 time and scored 56 goals.
An inside-forward, Sir Bobby’s playing career spanned nearly 20 years, during which he played for only three clubs – Fulham, Albion and a brief stint in Canada.
He also made 20 appearances for England, scoring four goals.
As a club manager, Sir Bobby won the FA and UEFA Cup with Ipswich Town, the Dutch Championship with PSV Eindhoven, the Portugeuse Championship with FC Porto and three cups with Barcelona, including the Cup Winners’ Cup.
His eight year tenure as England manager saw the national side go out of the World Cup at the quarter final stage to eventual winners Argentina in 1986.
Four years later, they lost to the next side to lift the trophy, Germany, following a penalty shoot out at Italia 90.
He managed Newcastle from 1999 to 2004, before bowing out of football.
