All geared up for event
Friday 31st July 2009, 11:29AM BST.
Final preparations are being made for the 124th Oswestry Show to be held tomorrow at the Park Hall Showground.
Organisers have confirmed the event will be going ahead despite the weather forecast.
Chairman Philip Jones said the show, which regularly attracts up to 15,000 people, offered something for every one.
He said: “We will once again have our fair share of thrills because we have Jamie Squibb who will be performing motorcycle stunts. We have the Chariots of Fire display team which performs amazing stunts on horseback.
“Of course we never forget our agricultural roots and a new feature of the show will be a sheep shearing contest. It will give spectators a chance to have a close-up look at farmers carrying out this agricultural skill. It is always important to recognise we are an agricultural show and new events related to rural skills makes sure visitors are aware of an important industry to Shropshire.
“There is a few other firsts this year, for example, people can now book their tickets online at www.oswestryshow.co.uk which we think is a good initiative.”
Mandy Roberts, show manager, said a Park and Ride scheme would run from the Smithfield site off Shrewsbury Road.
