Former Coronation Street Star Sean Wilson, who played Martin Platt before setting up as a cheesemaker 18 months ago, and television chef Matt Tebbutt were giving demonstrations and judging at yesterday’s event, and were due to be at today’s show.
Justin Beckett, from Belton Cheese, which scooped seven gold awards, said he was delighted with the company’s success.
“We’ve done the show every year for a long time and we’ve been successful before and so far this year we’ve had a great year,” he said
“We use local milk and all our staff work very hard to produce top quality cheese for our customers to win the show.
“It’s great to have such a huge show on our doorstep.
“We have put a tremendous amount of time and effort into the cheese show and we are delighted to have won these awards and it’s down to the hard work of the staff, farmers and milk producers.”
