Bowls tension is building
Wednesday 29th July 2009, 10:26AM BST.
Bowring go to Bylet for a crucial Furrows Shropshire Premier Bowls League basement battle tonight with their season very much at the crossroads.
Having featured in the County Cup semi-finals as recently as July 18, the Wellington club now find themselves fourth from bottom of the table.
Their hopes of having a comfortable end to their first season in the county’s top flight have been hit by defeats in their last two home games, the latest a 9-5 setback against title-chasing Chester Road on Friday.
To make matters worse for Peter Roden’s team, Bylet have hit a bit of good form, scoring a crucial 8-6 away win over fellow strugglers Archibald Worthington last week.
It all points to tonight’s game in Bridgnorth (7pm) being tension-filled.
