Wolves leave it late for victory

gen_speedwayWolverhampton maintained their maximum home Elite League record against Ipswich – but only just!

The Monmore men, who are now a point behind speedway league leaders Swindon, won the meeting 49-41 but needed a sensational Heat 15 decider to claim maximum points.

Peter Karlsson, the club’s inspirational skipper, claimed third place with Freddie Lindgren leading the way to ensure the Parrys International Wolves won by more than six-points to claim all three league points on offer.

Lindgren was at his brilliant best throughout another entertaining Monmore meeting and teenage ace Tai Woffinden notched a 12-point maximum.

There was also a moment of controversy after a tough race between Wolves reserve Ty Proctor and new Ipswich signing Robert Miskowiak to add some spice to the meeting.

Maximum man Woffinden said: “I’m enjoying my speedway more than ever at the moment and my score shows that.

“But it was all about the team and we’re really happy to keep our maximum home record, Ipswich made us work for it.”

WOLVERHAMPTON: Freddie Lindgren 15, Tai Woffinden 12, Peter Karlsson 11, Ty Proctor 5+1, Adam Skornicki 3, Chris Kerr 3, Nicolai Klindt 0.

IPSWICH: Scott Nicholls 9+1, Tobias Kroner 7+2, Robert Miskowiak 7+1, Dawid Stachyra 6+1, Troy Batchelor 5+1, Danny King 4+1, Carl Wilkinson 3+1.
