The wife of the motorist killed in a car crash near Bridgnorth at the weekend, today paid tribute to her “loving” husband.

Katharine Gordon, of King Charles Way, Bridgnorth described her husband Tony as a wonderful husband and devoted father to their two children, Mitchell, six, and one-year-old Darcey.

She said: “He was a real family man – the love of our lives.  It’s left us heart-broken, we shall miss him so much.”

Mr Gordon,  37, was driving alone on the A454 at Hilton, near Bridgnorth when his Vauxhall Astra was involved in a collision with a Mitsubishi car travelling in the opposite direction just after 9pm on Saturday.

Two occupants of the Mitsubishi, a man and a woman passenger, received multiple injuries.

The pair remain in New Cross Hospital, Wolverhampton, where their condition was today described as poorly, but stable.

The driver of a third vehicle, a green recovery truck which did not stop, has now come forward in response to police appeals.

Richard Ewels, West Mercia Police spokesman, said today: “We are appealing to anyone who saw either the actual collision, or the circumstances leading up to it, to contact Bridgnorth police station on 0300 333 3000.”

Meanwhile, a man who was injured in a crash across the Shropshire border has died, police said.

Andrew Tinker, 39, of Bristol, died at Selly Oak Hospital on Saturday after he was injured in a crash on the A449 at Stourton, near Kinver, on Wednesday.

His partner, Jane Croft, 44, also of Bristol, who was a passenger in the car, died on Wednesday.
