After 32 years of service with the group, Mr Graham Evers has decided to retire at the end of this year from his present role as group chief executive of the Claverley Company, the publishers of the Shropshire Star.
He will remain on the Claverley board and become deputy chairman for the UK businesses. He will continue as a director of the subsidiary companies and as trustee of the company’s pension schemes both in the UK and the Channel Islands.
He will be succeeded as chief executive on January 1, 2010 by Mr Steve Brown who will join the group on October 1 of this year.
Mr Brown has extensive experience in the UK publishing industry, working as managing director and regional managing director at newspaper publishing centres in Hull, Teeside, Newcastle and Birmingham.
