Driver dies in car accident

A 37-year-old man died and two other people were seriously injured in a collision on the A454 at Claverley, near Bridgnorth, close to the Royal Oak pub.
Police today said the man died at the scene despite attempts to save him after the accident which happened just after 9pm on Saturday.
A spokesman added: “The other two people were taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries. Officers are appealing for witnesses to come forward and contact them on 0300 333 3000.”
Three ambulances, a rapid response vehicle, two doctors and an incident support officer were also sent to the scene.
A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “On arrival crews found two cars that had been in a significant collision.
“Two people were trapped in one car and one person trapped in the second car.
“The man driving one car suffered multiple serious injuries and despite the best efforts of ambulance crews nothing could be done to save him and he was confirmed dead at the scene.”
The spokesman added two people trapped in the second car, a man and a woman both believed to be in their 40s, suffered serious leg injuries.
Both were treated at the scene.
He said: “Both patients were taken by land ambulance on blue lights to New Cross Hospital for further emergency treatment.”
Fire crews also attended the scene.
Meanwhile, a woman who died in a collision on the A449 in Kinver on Wednesday has been named by police as Jane Croft, 44, of Bristol. A man who was also seriously injured in the accident is in a critical condition in Selly Oak Hospital, Birmingham.
