Man hurt in crush by bull

A man suffered a suspected fractured cheekbone after he was crushed by a bull in Shropshire.

The man was injured in the Woodseaves area of Market Drayton shortly after 11am yesterday.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: “Crews arrived to find a man being cared for by a member of the public inside the property.

“The man, believed to be 25 years old, suffered a suspected fractured cheek bone and a laceration to his face.

“It is believed he was injured when a bull moved unexpectedly, crushing the man between the animal and a metal girder.

“Crews treated the man at the scene and dressed his facial wound before he was taken by land ambulance to Princess Royal Hospital for further assessment and treatment.”

Oliver Cartwright, spokesman for the National Farmers’ Union, said: “Accidents on farms do happen and our thoughts are with the man and we wish him a speedy recovery.

“Fortunately it wasn’t any more serious.

“I am sure everyone in the farming community will be thinking of him.”
