Robinson earns a recall
Friday 24th July 2009, 3:00PM BST.
Left-arm spinner Mark Robinson has earned a recall to the Shropshire team for this weekend’s must-win Minor Counties Championship trip to Berkshire.
The Oswestry captain has been rewarded for taking 43 wickets for the Marston’s Shropshire Premier League leaders with a place in the team for the three-day clash at Finchampstead which starts on Sunday.
Despite only returning to his club’s first team this weekend after a spell in the seconds, Shifnal batsman Bruce Thomason is also back in favour.
Matt Tilt and Steve Taylor both return after missing the rained off game against Devon at Shifnal last time out.
Bridgnorth’s Sam Whitney has been named in the squad for the first time and is expected to be 12th man.
Alex Blofield and Laeq Chisthi are both omitted from the team which played at Shifnal, while Ed and Rob Foster are ruled out through a combination of work commitments and illness.
Shropshire enter the game against the bottom club in the western division in fourth place, but know victory will keep the pressure on the three teams above them in the table.
Squad: James Ralph (Kidderminster, captain), Andy Gray (Walsall), Richard Oliver (Whitchurch), Jono Whitney (Bridgnorth), Atiq Chisthi (Knowle & Dorridge), Steve Taylor, Matt Tilt (both St Georges), Ted Baylis (Kidderminster), Bruce Thomason (Shifnal), Mike Barnard (Shrewsbury), Mark Robinson (Oswestry), Sam Whitney (Bridgnorth).
