Spate of county crashes
Thursday 23rd July 2009, 12:11PM BST.
Three people needed hospital treatment and six others were injured in three separate car crashes on Shropshire roads.
Two of those taken to hospital were injured when a BMW, an Audi and a lorry collided on the A41 at Tong, just off the M54, shortly after 6.20pm yesterday, leaving a man trapped in the wreckage for around an hour.
Murray MacGregor, West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman, said it was “very fortunate” there had been no front seat passenger in one of the cars involved because of the level of damage.
He said: “Once the 34-year-old man had been released he didn’t appear to have any injuries.
“The BMW had a 35-year-old woman and her two young children in it. The woman was taken to the PRH with minor injuries.
“The lorry driver, a 40-year-old man, was out of the vehicle by the time crews arrived. He was shaken, but did not require any treatment.”
Meanwhile, a man, believed to be in his 40s, was taken to hospital in Dudley suffering from neck injuries and three women and three young girls suffered minor injuries in two separate crashes on the B4176 at Stableford, Bridgnorth, shortly after noon yesterday.
A further crash today saw a car end up on its roof following a collision with another vehicle at the Wombridge interchange,Trench, Telford, at 8.30am. No-one was hurt.
