Plans to expand dental surgery

dentistA specialist dental surgery which only opened its doors in December could be set to expand and take on more Shropshire patients.

The Shrewsbury Orthodontic Centre, based in St Marys Place in the town, is a specialist centre for NHS and private patients in need of services such as teeth straightening.

Applicant Dr Alastair Chadwick has lodged the plans with Shropshire Council to carry out internal alterations on the second floor of the Grade II listed building.

A spokeswoman from the practice said until the council’s conservation team carried out a review of the building they would not know how much the development would cost or how many more NHS patients the centre would take on.

She added: “The plans are at the early stages but we will be increasing the service for Shropshire patients through the NHS.”

A decision is expected in August.
