The fourth annual community picnic at Ironbridge’s Lodge Field proved a success – with people coming to learn more about one of the area’s “hidden gems”.

The event, which was attended by Telford MP David Wright, was put on to promote the site, a former industrial and mining area which has been transformed into a nature spot.

“I think it is one of Ironbridge’s hidden gems,” said David Bingham, of the Lodge Field Committee.

“But a lot of people don’t know it; you can drive past it and not know it’s there.”

The picnic included live music from the band Driftwood and singer Diane Drummond, nature trails, and events for children including cake decorating.
