A Shropshire lavender farm will be stepping back into medieval times this weekend to mark a royal anniversary.

Shropshire Lavender, near Newport, is marking the market and fair licence granted to the parish of Chetwynd by King Edward II in 1318.

The weekend will feature medieval stalls, with traders in period costume selling authentic medieval-style goods, and a chance to see ancient crafts such as spinning, weaving, cloth dyeing, and herbal remedies.

There will also be demonstrations of gruesome ancient surgery, leathercraft, and even medieval spectacles, as well as music and a re-enactment of a medieval play.

Knights in armour will be at in attendance, and visitors will be able to try archery and historic food and mead.

The event is open from 11am to 5pm both days and admission is £2.00 for adults. Children up to age 14 are free.
