Lee Moore back at the Bucks
Tuesday 21st July 2009, 3:13PM BST.
Club record signing Lee Moore returns to AFC Telford United tonight – in the shirt of new club Nuneaton Town.
Moore was only released last month after almost three years with the Bucks, following his £5,000 switch from Tamworth in 2006.
He has now joined his hometown club Nuneaton, along with another ex-Buck Simon Forsdick, and is expected to play a part in this evening’s friendly (7.45pm).
Reflecting on the midfielder-cum-striker’s departure, assistant manager Larry Chambers said: “I met Lee Moore in the summer and it was a mutual decision.
“I knew he said he didn’t want to go, but in terms of playing regular football on a consistent basis, it was the right move for him.
“It will be good to see him tonight and I hope it works out for him.”
Chambers believes the Southern League premier division side will prove a tough test for Telford, who are still unbeaten after games with Market Drayton, Port Vale and Shrewsbury so far in pre-season.
“The Drayton game was always likely to be competitive,” he said.
“When you play League clubs like Port Vale and Shrewsbury you know they present a different proposition and tonight will be more like a normal league game.
“That’s exactly what we need and it will help us, because everything is aimed towards being in the right condition for the first game (on August 8).”
“I know their manager Kevin Wilkin well and speak to him on a regular basis – he’s built a good squad.”
- Former AFC Telford defender Duane Courtney has signed a one-year deal with Blue Square Premier side Kidderminster Harriers. The Bucks received a record fee of more than £25,000 when they sold Courtney to Burnley in August 2005.
