Rescuers spend more than seven hours working to free a dog which had fallen more than 100ft down a county mineshaft. For more, watch tonight’s newscast.

In response to the comment concerning the fact that the mine shaft was ‘open’. Firstly, some shafts are so old and may never have been properly recorded. Even if they were recorded and capped, they were often capped with wood (which rots). It could also have been a very narrow air (vent) shaft, which had never been capped.
Just three possible reasons – there could be more!

People who come in the countryside should be carefull. why should we take them in to consideration .I assume the owner of this dog will set up a DD for the next 20 years to repay all involved in the rescue or he will give a generous donation which amounts to more than thanks for that.
