Cholmondeley Pageant of Power
Friday 17th July 2009, 11:13AM BST.
Hundreds of motoring enthusiasts are expected to flock to the north Shropshire border this weekend for a two-day vehicle extravaganza.
More than 100 modern and historic race, rally and road cars are due to go on show at the Cholmondeley Pageant of Power, at Cholmondeley Castle, near Whitchurch.
The event takes place tomorrow and Sunday, and will see visitors watch a range of different motor cars and bikes speeding along a purpose-built track on the castle’s estate.
There will also be speedboats and helicopters on display, as well as a range of family activities. James Hall, event director, said this year’s Pageant of Power would be “awe-inspiring” for anyone with a penchant for cars, bikes or vehicles. “With the number and variety of models on show, visitors will be spoilt for choice,” he said.
“This year’s selection of cars and bikes is awe-inspiring. Added to this we will also have a large number of power boats on the Mere as well as the largest collection of helicopters ever seen in Europe.”
Tomorrow culminates in a concert and firework display.
Tickets to the Pageant cost £25 for adults to access all areas, or £15 to access the general park area, but excluding the start, car and bike pits. Children’s tickets cost £5. Tickets to attend the firework display cost £20. Call (01829) 772433.
