The festival features the best of alternative, folk, roots, alt-country and other leftfield genres. And it is also one of the UK’s most child-friendly events with plenty of attractions for youngsters.

Today Green Man spokesman Alison Millar said: “Be it teen or tot, the Green Man is really just a big kid at heart, so he’s made sure there’s a little something for everyone at this year’s festival…even for the little ‘uns.

“Youngsters can enjoy expert musical tuition from some of the many professional musicians at the festival. They can try out their band, production and instrumental skills with our vast array of equipment to keep young minds inspired

“They can discover hidden hobbies with workouts in bush craft, bike mechanics, jewellery, toy making and much more, as well as extensive arts and crafts workshops with our Green Man experts using natural and recycled materials and plenty of play equipment.”

Meanwhile, fans of Green Man are being offered a free download from festival stalwart James Yorkston, who has played at every Green Man to date.

Miss Millar added: “James always sticks around for a cider or two, which in our eyes makes him a bit of a legend. What would the Green Man be without a set from East Fife’s finest?

“This year, he’ll be playing as part of The Three Craws with fellow folk favourite King Creosote, so to celebrate we’ve teamed up with the might Domino Records – the very clever people who bought such Green Man headliners as Bonnie Prince Billy, Stephen Malkmus & The Jicks and Animal Collective, to name but a few.

“Domino are offering a free download of a track from James Yorkston & The Big Eyes Family Players forthcoming record, Folk Songs, a collection of traditional folk songs out on August 10.”
