Landlords get help to deal with trouble

Social landlords and tenants in Shropshire are to be offered help to take a stand against anti-social behaviour.
The Shropshire Witness Charter has been developed for social landlords.
The Shropshire Partnership along with the Bromford Group, Sanctuary Group and Severnside Housing are behind the scheme.
The charter sets out the minimum standard of service a member of the public can expect to receive from social landlords when acting as a witness for them in a case which is going to court.
The charter covers from the point of reporting anti-social behaviour to the time after court action has been taken. To support the charter, a witness peer mentoring scheme is also being developed.
This will involve people who have previously acted as a witness, volunteering to support new anti-social behaviour witnesses, sharing their experience and expertise with them.
Mark Pragg, senior tenancy services officer at Severnside Housing, said: “We are pleased to be working in partnership with Shropshire Council and other local landlords to provide extra support to those taking a stand against anti-social behaviour.”
Lisa Brett, community safety manager for Bromford Group, added: “It is hoped that this charter will give more witnesses confidence to come forward so more cases can be resolved.”
