Chance of a job ‘spoiled’ by Mail

A Ludlow man today accused the Royal Mail of spoiling his job hunting chances after his CV and application was damaged and returned in the post.
Ken Ledbrook was horrified to find his CV and job application had been returned in a clear plastic bag with all his personal details on show.
Mr Ledbrook had applied for a job as an IT technician at the Hereford Academy and when he called them to explain he was told it was too late and the closing date had been and gone.
He said: “I got this back on Wednesday. The envelope was destroyed and the CV was in a clear plastic bag.
“My details were on show, it has got everything there. In a way I feel that my privacy has been invaded. Anyone could have taken it.
“Anyone who is into this ID theft thing could probably get something from it.”
Mr Ledbrook said there was no explanation offered except for an apology printed on the plastic bag.
He said he posted the CV last Friday to get there on Saturday. The closing date was noon on Monday.
He said: “With jobs being so hard to get at the moment I just did not have a chance. It is really unfair that I did not get the chance to have a shot at the job.”
A spokesman for Post Office Ltd said they apologised for any distress cau-sed, and added: “We would urge the customer to retain the damaged packaging and to contact our customer service department with full de-tails of posting and the add- ress it was intended for so that we can make inquiries.”

This is typical RM! We have received post at our business address on a regular basis that is damaged without the courtesy of a plastic bag, you dont even know if items are missing. Plus it seems all our mailing has to go via Wrekin Housing Trust and vice versa. Royal Mail has gone to the dogs over the last few years I am surprised it still has a royal seal of approval.

There is no 100percent gaurentee with any delivery system. Lifes unfair – the Americans have a saying we can’t reproduce here in the clear but it happens”.
If you really want to know it’s going to get there, deliver it yourself or assume it may not get there. Even then your bus, train or own car might break down and you can’t blame that as it were on purpose. I once had applications lost in the post for 2 weeks after they were due in, things like that happen – unless you postman doesn’t like you, its unfortunate chance, sad but unfortunate and a bit desperate for the paper to use you as a story like this.

Moan, moan , moan, thats all people seem to do regards Royal mail. If your Mail is being damaged or being misdelivered… DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT! Complain to them direct and get the full story…. DONT PRESUME!

He should have sent it special delivery, next day before 1pm guaranteed, if it was so important. It was most probably in a cheap brown envelope without reinforcement!

Devil I sent a mobile phone by special delivery guaranteed by 1 the next day tracking said it was out for delivery and guess what they cannot find it typical RM…

Monkey/Apeman, why worry if your getting compensation, chill out man! Its only a bit of a inconvenience, you will not lose out financially will you? Did you get your postage back? Name one other company that can do EXACTLY the service that RM offers. Just one will do!

Devil Ive never lost parcels with anyone eles so I wound’nt know mind you I have lost loads of letters by RM and what do you get for lost letters a pack of stamps.And now I have to wait for compensation so I can replace my phone.

But you haven’t lost out on anything apart from the inconvenience of RM losing your phone, if it was your phone that is. Were you posting it to yourself?!?! Upside is that you will get compensation to enable you purchase a NEW phone! Letters do get lost in the post by being chewed up in the machinery, I have even seen letters eaten by slugs in postboxes! It’s not the end of the world to lose something. NO OTHER MAIL COMPANY CAN DO THE JOB RM DOES!
